What I can do for you

01

Piano (age 4 upwards)

Lessons for adults and children. Beginners especially welcomed. We go at your pace. If you don’t want to practice much that is fine. You will just make slower progress. If you commit to daily, efficient practice, you will progress very well and open up a whole new world of possibilities.

If you are looking for a teacher who focuses on examination progress, I am not the right teacher for you. I do not reject examinations per se, but they are a small part of the process of learning to play an instrument. They have a useful place as a benchmark – but that is all they are. If you are looking for a teacher who focuses on examinations only, please look elsewhere. I expect parents to appreciate that I am the teacher and that I will guide your child on the best course to develop as a musicianship and instrumentalist.

My lessons use Keyboard Games and Music Moves for Piano (based on Music Learning Theory) and this is an audiation based approach to becoming a musician, rather than a system based on reading notes from the outset.

There is a lot of singing and movement and sequence learning (it’s fun!) in the lessons. To deepen learning and great confidence, each lesson includes a creative element to help students to apply what they have been learning in their lessons.

Music Play with Trish (for Sing and Sign toddler graduates (18 months plus)

A unique offering for graduates of Sing and Sign who wish to continue their relationship with Trish Cummings whilst exploring musicianship for young children, through classes based on Music Learning Theory.

Music Play classes are 45 minutes long and they run on Friday and Saturday mornings in East Dulwich.

In January 2023, there will be two classes on offer: older children (2/3 years) at 09:30 on Saturdays and younger children (18 – 30 months) at 10:15 on Saturdays and 09.15 on Fridays. The class you attend is also determined by your child’s music development progress.
