Flow, Weight, Time, and Space in Music Movement

Flow, weight, time and space – these are the essential building blocks of movement to music.

Maybe you wonder why moving to music is so important? It is certainly not just for fun, although moving to music does make it even more fun.

When we move our bodies continuously to music, we understand the music better. By moving our bodies, our brains start to understand the sounds of music. They begin to make sense of their duration, speed, pitch, phrasing, and dynamics. When one is static and listening to music, a whole learning style is being excluded from the understanding process.
